Do I need to order wrought iron gate posts?
We recommend that you order wrought iron gate posts in the following circumstances:
- You are ordering wrought iron double gates and your brick pillars do not have reinforcement bar running through them into the ground
- Your brick pillars are in a bad state of repair
- The surface you had wished to attach your wrought iron gates to could be pulled over by the weight of the wrought iron gates (we only supply wrought iron gates made from solid steel and our gates are therefore fairly weighty) or someone swinging on the gates!
All wrought iron single garden gate posts, up to 4ft high, are made from 60mm x 60mm x 3mm box section
All wrought iron side gate posts are made from 80mm x 80mm x 3mm box section
All wrought iron driveway gate posts, up to 4ft high, are made from 80mm x 80mm x 3mm box section
All wrought iron estate gate posts are made from 120mm x 120mm x 3mm box section
Wrought Iron Railing Posts
Do I need wrought iron railing posts?
We reccommend that you have an intermediary wrought iron railing post every 1.5 - 2m of railing, this is to ensure that your wrought iron railings remain rigid. Therefore if you were to order 4m of wrought iron railings we would suggest that you order one intermediary post to sit half way along the length of railing.
You may also wish to purchase end posts, these work in a similar way to garden gate posts. If you do not have a suitable surface, for example, a brick wall to attach your wrought iron railing to then you will need to order a wrought iron end post.
Thirdly you may need to order a wrought iron corner post if you wish your railings to make a 90 degree turn. Please note that we are unable to provide wrought iron railing posts that turn railings at any other angles.
All wrought iron railing posts are made from 60mm x 60mm x 3mm box section. Thy all have a post cap welded to the top. Please note that due to the post cap, all railing posts sit approximately 30mm higher than the railings once installed.

Installing your wrought iron railing posts
All our railing posts are supplied with a post cap welded to the top. For shipping and handling purposes your wrought iron railings and posts will come in sections. Wrought iron railings can be attached to posts using the slotted tab that is welded to the railing post. All our railing posts come with a flat base plate at the bottom of the post, with four pre-drilled holes. This allows the wrought iron railing post to be bolted to a suitable surface. We recommend that wrought iron railing posts are bolted to a good strong surface. If you are in any doubt as to the suitability of your surface we recommend you contact a builder prior to installing any wrought iron railings. If you have any queries, please give us a call and we will be happy to answer your questions.
If you are in any doubt as to which posts or how many posts to order, please contact us and we will be only too happy to advise you.
